7 up and 7 down Xman...two trophies for two professional divisions:  the Premiership for top 7 and the Championship for bottom 7, and each comp will have three crossover games with teams in the other division that will count for points in their respective division.

So all 14 sides will remain, but this year is a mad scramble for Premiership qualification- and thats to be decided on by this years placings, no other criteria.

Automatic Promotion and relegation applies between divisions for one side each year from there, maybe 2? Not sure on that last element

Confused? Lol

Why are we changing a decent product , I can understand next year fewer games but why have 2 divisions and crossover games . What a wank of an idea.

SO you play 6 games in your division and 3 against the other division , so you may have only 4 home games a season . Oh year Sponsers will be lining up for that

Yeah, typical NZRU wanky idea.

From memory the NZRU needed to drop teams to reduce the number of games played because the longer the season went the more indebted the provincial unions became.

Threats of legal action from the unions on the cull list prompted the NZRU to make the wanky decision you are complaining about.

The wanky decision, if anything, demonstrates weakness on behalf of the NZRU to manage their premier domestic competition for the long term good of the game ahead of short term {read World Cup timeframe) harmony.

Manawatu at least got a couple of bonus points from the game... and gave the sheep shaggers a bit of a scare too.
